The Slave Trade


And here, though there is nothing left to show, nothing left standing, looking out to sea, contemplating on the little known fact that the slave trade was alive and well here in the 16th century.

 

The Congolese, sentenced to slavery, joined the caravan trail from Stanley Pool to Loango, where ships awaited, to take them far from all that they had known, never, ever to return, heading off on their perilous journeys to the other side of the world.
