Welcome to the FAQ page, where we hope that some of your questions may be
answered.
1. How long are the tours?
The trips will take approximately 7 days.
2. Is there a possibility of extending or shortening the tour?
If you wish to extend or shorten your stay in the Congo, then you might consider
a more individually tailored tour which will be more suited to your needs,
3. How flexible is the itinerary?
Real Congo is very flexible with the itinerary. Because Real Congo wants you to
have a unique experience, your own experience, Real Congo will ask you for you
preferences, interests and needs. By doing this, Real Congo will try and arrange
these for you.
4. Do I have to get my own visa?
No, Real Congo will apply for your visa. This will entail you filling out an
application form and returning it to Real Congo, with a passport size photo and
your passport. There is a fee for the visa but this is included in the price of
the trip.
5. Can I arrange my own flight?
Unless you are traveling from the Southern Hemisphere, Real Congo will organize
your flight from a central point in Europe. Those traveling from the Southern
Hemisphere will need to make other arrangements and Real Congo will discuss this
with individuals.
6. What happens if I become ill?
Real Congo strongly advise individuals to take out their own travel and health
insurance, at the same time advising clients to have ample funds with them for
emergencies.
There is an excellent clinic that clients will be taken to but bills must be
paid for at the time. It is your responsibility. There are medi-vac facilities
also.
Real Congo advises clients to ensure that they bring there own medication with
them.
7. Do we need three meals a day?
That is up to you, the client, but since there are neither snack bars nor are
there are snack machines, then you would be advised to eat at meal times. There
are small fridges in the hotel room, but these are drinks bars for the hotel.
You can go to a local supermarket and buy snacks if you want and Real Congo will
accompany you on those trips.
8. What about drinking water?
The tap water in the hotel is okay for tooth brushing, showering and so on, but
Real Congo strongly advises that you drink bottled water which will be made
available to you and you can also buy more from the hotel or at the supermarket.
9. What about malaria and anti-malarial drugs?
Real Congo strongly advises all clients to seek their own medical practitioner’s
advice.
10. What vaccinations are required?
Real Congo strongly advises all clients to seek their own medical practitioner’s
advice. Real Congo will state that all vaccinations will need to be up-to-date
and clients must discuss hepatitis, meningitis and others with their doctor. Of
utmost importance is the yellow fever vaccination. It is imperative that you
have a current yellow fever vaccination certificate with you to show to the
authorities on arrival. They will ask to see your certificate before you are
allowed to enter the country.
11. You have not mentioned traveling dates?
As Real Congo is offering private trips to individuals and groups, and can
organize this at reasonably short notice, at any time of the year, the dates are
open to suit the clients.
12. You have not mentioned prices?
Again, Real Congo is offering private trips to individuals and groups, at any
time of the year, and to their own individual needs, therefore, prices will vary
according to the time of year and to the clients’ requirements.
13. You offer some sporting activities, in particular tennis and golf. Do I need
to take my own equipment? What about fishing and any other activities?
No, the equipment will be made available to you. As for other activities, these
will be discussed with the individual.
14. Who are the escorts, guides and lecturers?
Real Congo is the brainchild of one person, Gloria Vettese Duguid, and it is she
who will be the escort at all times. The guides and lecturers are local
Congolese who Gloria has known for many years.
Gloria has lived in the Congo and has a 14 year ongoing relationship with ‘le
pays de son coeur’. She is fluent in French, knows the culture, history and
peoples of the Congo very well and it is her knowledge and caring for the
country that she would like to share with clients. Most importantly of all
though, she wants you, the client, to leave the Congo, having had your own good
experience, inspired by her
